I played it for 2 seconds and gave it back with a "thanks but no thanks". It sounds vaguely like a recorder, and I guess if you play in a folk band the character will come through. Or maybe if you need to play against a grand piano it'll come in handy.

But no.

Victor.

I got to try a few of these recently (two different voicings), along with some other recorders at Lazar's shop. Disclaimer: I am a recorder player that is sorely tempted by non-traditional recorders.

The low end is loud, far louder than a normal recorder, and the low E is strong. The piano/octave key seems to have the possibility of making new alternate fingerings possible. I was not able to get the hang of using the octave key in combination with the thumb hole immediately, however I suspect that would not be a problem after some practice with the instrument.

The construction is beautiful, the toneholes are kinda big, and some are non-circular. Keywork and thumbrest were all solid and adjustable. I think the price is appropriate. It is at the top of my GAS list at the moment.

It sure looks like a pro level instrument, with a price to match.
A test drive would seem to be in order.
