I was wondering about the Chinese 8-hole Xiao. I don't know much about how the bore diameter affects the arrangement of holes.
But it would be super nice to have a Xiao that had the same fingering as the Baroque recorder, (not the double holes version, similar to Renaissance models like Kynseker).

The Baroque recorder fingering is simply more advanced because they varied the size of the holes to accomodate for an "easier" fingering scheme, which is superior to the Xiao. An example is almost always having the 2nd-to-last hole always covered with your right third finger.

I guess I would need to find a recorder maker that could shape a recorder from a piece of bamboo right?
