hissing noise on bass recorder / tenor recorder

Post by meoweth »

hey guys i got a shipment in of recorders and the first was a tenor rosewood denner and that had a hissing noise whenever medium-high breath pressure was used. A very obvious drone / hiss, this becomes obvious especially when i start with the vibrato. i returned that in a heartbeat.

Now the same thing's happening to the bass recorder knick canta pearwood and it was fine the first 2 days of playing. i was wondering what I might have done to cause this, i kept it in the case and everything.

Tell us something.: Love playing trumpet and modern flute at church as well as Irish trad flute in a band. Been playing Irish trad and 18th century period music for about 15 years.

Check the blade to make sure a crack hasn't formed or that a sliver isn't hanging from it. Doesn't take much! Be sure to take the headjoint off and shine a flashlight up the bore to get a good look.
