Cutting Edge Flutes

Post by Denny »

CEF is a small hobbyist webstore selling computer designed and fabricated, unique, custom aerophones: panpipes, single and double flutes. Instruments are tuned to several scales used throughout the world: Minor pentatonic, Japanese Hirajoshi, Middle Eastern/Indian Hijaz-Kar, and more. The flute designs are literally printed on "3D printers".

They look pretty cool and thanks for the link, but do they make anything that's just a plain old do-re-me, Western, everyday, normal scale that we can play Irish/American tunes with? Everything I saw was exotic (from my standpoint). That's not intended as an insult, but you know what I mean.
The crwth will set you free!

I knew it was a matter of time before this happened.
I admit, if I ever get around to building a Makerbot
the first thing I would print would be some whistle
heads. I'd start with Generation replicas and then
start making weird mods to see what happens.

I think that was a consideration in my choosing this forum...

I don't remember being consulted about their marketing plan.

Actually , if someone hadn't have posted a link to the flutemakers forum I still wouldn't know they exist.

Edited to correct the forum name.

I wonder what the Western Scale did to them.
