tried to make ocarina from "super sculpy" modeling clay ...

Post by gregwhistle »

... results were, well, failure so far.

Problem seems to be making the window and ramp. Since I haven't found terribly good instructions anywhere, perhaps I am trying to make the window and ramp too pennywhistle-like (but then, how else would one make them - doesn't the air-splitting have to happen basically like a whistle)?

Or maybe I have the right idea, but the clay seems possibly too sticky and malleable ... hard to get a good clean edge?

Thoughts, tips? Pointers to good low tech ocarina-making instructions?

Try

http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-A-Clay-Ocarina/ (Intructables sight is so awesome :D )

Or you can do what I do, and try making them out of bamboo.
