Irish tunes on the xaphoon?

Post by nashradus »

I've had a xaphoon for a while and have been to play a few Irish tunes on it. Once I got used to the fingering, it was actually fairly easy to transfer what I'd learnt on the whistle to the xaphoon.

So when I searched on Youtube and elsewhere for Irish tune recordings on the xaphoon I was mildly surprised to see no results. Has anyone here come across IRTrad on the xaphoon?

I was able to transfer some of my ITM repertoire over to xaphoon. It was fun, but limiting, with the smaller range. Also, the high notes take substantial effort to reach. I eventually traded it away, as I think playing reed instruments was messing with my flute embouchure.

Pretty cool little tooter for anyone looking for a silly diversion, though. :)
