Willowflutes and where to get one.

Post by Innocent Bystander »

Too much IPA at the last Folk Club night. I slammed the car-door shut on my willowflute.
This is a plumbing-pipe affair, made by Corwen Broch. I have managed to glue it together, but now I am nervous and trepidatious carrying the thing about. I do make my own plumbing-pipe overtone-flutes, but I'd like to get something a little more robust.

My Google-fu is weak on this matter. All I've managed to dredge up is a site in Slovakia. Yep, they do overtone flute, but the konchovka style is not my preference. I'd rather have the Willowflute style. Try as I might, I can't get any sites in Scandinavia. There must be some. I have politely asked a friend in Sweden, but haven't heard back yet.

So, if it's not contravening the rules regarding commercial posts*, can anyone point me at a site where I can buy a Scandinavian-style Overtone flute, that will ship to the UK?

You might have luck searching the term Sallow flute and Seljefløyte.
Most seem to be made of wood, so not what you are looking for.
Sorry not much of a help.

ran across some videos searching.

You might also contact these guys, they seem thinking about making some in the future,
but again most likely out of wood.

Thank you, ID! It's one out of wood that I am looking for. Bark ones don't last a season. I should have been more clear.
The first site looks promising.
Ancient Instruments is my friend Corwen. I know he doesn't have any at present.

I came across this one:
Feen - an overtone flute in Glass!

Given my previous record, I'm reluctant to spend eighty pounds on something fragile. I am kind of tempted, all the same.

Here's the alternative, the Konchovka!

I have got a new all wooden one in D with reindeer horn fittings I got recently from Magnar at NATURINTRUMENTER. I bought it on a whim. I will sell it to you happily. There is quite a wait from Magnar.
