American quills (panpiping) tradition

Post by Walden »

I happened across some online field recordings of Joe Pat, of Arkansas, playing traditional Afro-American music on panpipes and a timbrel. He also sings on some of the tracks. Thought I'd share them here.

That collection is at my alma mater.

The Wolf collection is really quite a significant archive of Southern culture.

Mike Seeger includes the quills in a lot of his performances.

Thanks for posting, Walden.
