Gill Recorders

My first set of recorders were made by a company in Israel named Gill. They were inexpensive recorders made of pearwood. These recorders were purchased in the late 1970's.
There are a few Gill recorders for sale on the Internet today but no sign of the actual company on the web. Does anyone know if the company still exists or what happened to it?
What struck my curiosity is that I saw some Hohner recorders that look identical to my old soprano recorder and was wondering if Hohner acquired Gill or if Gill is still in business.
