This look interesting, I wonder how it plays? Cylindrical open holed simple system silver flute!

I've got one of these. As you can see it looks like a rather cheap Boehm flute and it sounds like one too. The embouchure is in no way different from a standard Boehm embouchure (if there is such a thing as a 'standard' Boehm embouchure). A nice conversation piece but not a flute any Trad player would want.

Yikes, what a monstrosity. Looks like a steam-punk flute---where's the boiler?

Yes, might be tempted to get one of those, I understand they were made for the English stationed in India.

Yes rather pedestrian, but I found it interesting.

So it might play well with an improved headjoint/embouchure cut. Maybe a wooden headjoint. Then, the body could be replaced, possibly with wood.

Oh...

How 'bout just a better embouchure cut on a new silver head?

I have one of these too. There is a Boehm-ish quality, but it's also pretty different. The holes are much smaller than on a Boehm flute, which really changes the response. I'm sure a differently cut embouchure would make a huge difference. As has been discussed in some other threads recently, a few people (me included) believe that the bore taper isn't the first and foremost factor that makes a flute good for traditional music. I bet one of these could be transformed with a new lipplate, from something that's a neat curiosity into a really interesting instrument.

I also played one of those, and wasn't impressed.

Yes exactly, I played Francesco's (radcliff) one...
I'd love to try that conical one though.

Every time I see this picture I covet one more and more. Le sigh.
