Clare flute player (and flute maker) Eamonn Cotter released a new CD a few weeks ago (launched at Willie Clancy Week). It's entitled "The Knotted Chord," in tribute to the music shop in Ennis by that name that was run by his late brother Ciarán. It's a great recording, beautiful playing from Eamonn on a variety of well-known and lesser-known tunes, a nice set of reels played with Charlie Harris, Maeve Donnelly, and Eamonn's sister Geraldine (who provides piano accompaniment on many of the tracks), a couple of slow airs. Highly recommended!

I assume it's available from Custy's and the other usual sources; should be available from Ossian USA soon if it isn't already.

There was a a rake of new CDs at the Willie week, from a flute point of view it's probably worth mentioning Mick Hand and Eileen Hassett's one, All you need is láimh, too. I am actually surprised that hasn't been mentioned anywhere.

A handy title, that. ;-)

Great news! I've studied under Eamonn for several summer workshops and I've just about worn grooves in his 1996 album. That's a must get record for sure.
