On my return from family vacation last Friday, the UPS courier arrived to deliver my new Copley African blackwood flute. It looks even more beautiful than the website photo, and my whistle to flute transition has begun. Dave delivered on budget, ahead of scheduled date (6 weeks instead of , and he responded almost immediately to the few email queries I directed to him during the build period. He was excellent to deal with in every respect, and the flute was couriered into canada with no problem, arriving in perfect shape, and packed into a black hard cover case which I didn't even know was coming with the flute.
A hugely enjoyable visit from Jessie. She certainly has plenty of enthusiasm and talent, not to mention energy (meaning I had to double my coffee intake just to keep up the pace). We were also joined by Phillip Rolfes, a promising young flute player from Indiana - I'm sure you will be hearing his name more in the future. They both made major progress in the skills of making flutes, and no injuries worse than a blood blister.

Hi, Nick. Indeed, I did (with Dave and Philip). I love it. I find myself hugging it daily. Last night I took it to a house party session, and people, including a few very good flute players gave it a try. They loved it. I was (and am) thrilled. One of the guys who played it was John Mock, not a flute player, but a whistle player for the Dixie Chicks, Maura O'Connell, and others. I knew he lived here in Nashville, but hadn't met him before. It was really nice to talk whistles with him. He plays Abells, Overtons and Chieftains. He said he has about 7 or 8 Overtons and has gone through about a hundred to find the ones he loves. Wow.
