With thanks to Diego Lolic whose current thread drew Gonzalo Rodriguez Caride to my notice - decent looking basic instruments and a sensible if not overloaded website (oh, and it's only in Galician - if you can read Spanish/Portuguese/Italian you should be able to make tolerable sense of it). The link above should go direct to his flutes page - which starts off with a whistle with gaita fingering! - the transverse flutes are further down-page. The rest of the site is about his other activities and classes of instrument.

Nice to have an addition - it's been quiet on here lately!

Chris Wilkes' web site seems to be offline. Anyone knows what's going on?

I discovered this myself the other day when trying to research list prices for a recent thread. Dunno what's the cause. I'm aware of a couple of other links on the list that have dropped recently, e.g Dom Allan's. I'm up to my ears in other stuff right now and haven't got time to try to find out or to update the list......will do as and when I can.

Just to note that I checked Chris Wilkes' website today and it is, as he promised, back up and running and I presume he is contactable through it.

E-mail recently received from Fridtjof Aurin announcing his new website with some fantastic pictures and up to date prices. I can't edit it direct into The List in the OP myself under the new system, so here it is for now: http://www.aurinflutes.com (Edited to correct problem - see below.)

Aurin is a period flutes specialist, not an ITM maker, though he does offer some late C18th 8-key models. His workshop pictures are well worth a browse just for interest, and you can just drool at the lichen-pics even if you're not a baroque enthusiast.

Jem,

I'm getting a NOT FOUND error on that link. Can you verify?

Thanks!

I clicked Jem's link and got not found.
I shortened it to http://www.aurinflutes.com
and was redirected to http://www.aurinflutes.com/Fridtjof-Aur ... /home.html

many of Jem's links are a copy of the full URL. Likely the default page for the domain at the time he copied it. The web person making a new front page will often create the new one with a different name, test it and then change the default to be the new one.

TMI can get ya

Right. This is computerology somewhat over my head - though I should by now have learnt to check links in Preview before leaving them, I suppose! I was trying to leave a link that would go direct to the English version of Fridtjof's website rather than the German language base version. It does look like he's changed things since I saved his site to "Favourites" in my browser as that link - the one I gave above - was working then and isn't now. He has told me that he is still working on developing the site and intends to flesh out the information there in due course - so maybe things will change again.

Try this: http://www.aurinflutes.com/Fridtjof-Aur ... /home.html - seems to work at time of posting.

Just in case that too changes, as Denny indicated, the basic website link http://www.aurinflutes.com should reliably take you to the German Home Page and is maybe what I should put into the definitive List. I have edited the first post on this above to give the basic URL.

Just to note that the existing link for Dominic Allan in the OP main List is functioning again - he has revamped the site.

BTW, if you like bagpipe and hurdy-gurdy music, check out his MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/dominicallanbagpipes for some great clips.

This link for Tom Aebi's 2009 Catalogue as a downloadable pdf appeared in a recent thread and I thought it might be worth posting here too, although strictly it falls outside the criteria for The List (! :D ).

As the new Forum format precludes editing the OP here any more, The List is now available as a Google Site and kept updated there: Chiff & Fipple Wooden Flute Makers List.
