Nice one. Love the tone of your flute. What make is it?

Thanks!
Here's the Brosna slide if you missed it :).

The flute is a McGee Grey Larsen Preferred (a small holed model), and you can judge which part of the sound is the flute and which is me by this clip:

For Roman:

Something I am actually working up on the pipes, but here's a flute version.

St Anne's was brought to Ireland from Canada (allegedly by Chris Droney). Denis Murphy recorded it on a 78 rpm during the late fifties.

Any particular reason why you chose not to play it like a reel?

Thanks for the info. The tune is played only in Old Time settings here in St. Louis, which perhaps explains
how I play it. If you can refer me to a real reel setting of it (youtube would help), I'd like to hear.
Lovely tune, IMO.

Denis Murphy - St Anne's

De Dannan's recording from the eighties is the source of most current versions though.

Two reels on low Bb flute - Christmas Eve (which I know very well - written by fiddler Tommy Coen) and The Providence (which I only learnt quite recently - there are a few minor flubs.....). This clip was recorded on my old minidisc player and transferred to mp3 via the PC - I think the sound quality should be way better than all my other tracks on SoundCloud which have been recorded via the SoundCloud mobile app - very convenient and easy to use but not good audio results! I don't think uploading it to SoundCloud has significantly altered it. I really wanted to try to publish a better representation of the sound this flute makes! It still isn't remotely like studio quality, of course..... but nor is my playing.

Christmas Eve & The Providence (low Bb flute)
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Quick question, Jem: are those Abs in the last part of The Providence part of that setting, or are they slightly 'flubbed' As? I'm not being mean, just curious.
