Flutomat for 6-hole flutes

After reading some earlier threads, I'm thinking of trying my hand at building a couple of mid-sized PVC flutes, (like Eb, E and F). I figured I could get some measurements by using Pete Kosel's "Flutomat" calculator, located here:

But the link to the 6-hole version seems to be broken. I'm not planning to make 8-hole flutes. Any suggestions?

The last two holes are just vent holes-- not finger holes. Just figure out how far up from the bottom of the flute without the vent holes you'd need to cut the pipe. In other words, just ignore the vent holes and make the flute shorter for six holes than for eight holes. The top edge of the seventh hole (i.e., the first vent hole) will determine the effective length of your six- hole flute, whether it (the top vent hole) is there or not.

If you want to try something a bit more advanced with more info and graphs, you should try Daniel Bingamon's TWCalc http://www.kingsmills.us/twcalc/twcalc.htm
It's a very nice software and it's free :)

Thanks, Feadin. I'll check it out. I made a G flute last night using Pete's Kosel's instructions. It took under two hours, done while multitasking the dinner chores. Looks great, sounds great, and plays dead-on accurate. This has definitely whet my appetite!

I find TWCalc a bit better for 6-hole flutes that tune easily, and the cutoff frequency graph is informative. The tuning issue is odd - perhaps with Flutomat I tend to trust all the calculations (to ill effect) while embouchure-hole and cork placement need to be determined by trial when using TWCalc. Probably user-error, as usual.

Both programs are great tools.

There are some excellent pointers here.

But the inevitable question: Where does one start if one wishes to use conical bores? I can find nothing on this subject, and know zip to zilch about the acoustical science involved.

If using a conical bore I'd start by copying an existing flute :)
But I'm interested in any info for calculating toneholes for conical flutes too ;)

I tried clicking the Flutomat link above, and just land at "Succeed" wireless technologies, based somewhere in California by the look of it. Any idea where I can find 8-hole flutomat,
please?
