You're not still thinking that I have a problem with any kind of fusion, properly done, are you?

As for classical composers, since borrowing from 'folk' melodies has been done extensively since the dawn of art music, I would think it might be close to impossible to compose anything in a Western art music medium that doesn't have something borrowed from 'folk culture' somewhere in it.

No, no ... I bring it up as a freestanding issue.

Right, it's what I meant by long practice. But that doesn't exempt it from scrutiny, if you're the scrutinizing kind. :-)

here's a hidden gem: Brian Finnegan with hair playing bamboo flute.

Very unorthodox style (triple tonguing!) in Moving Cloud....but very nice.

sounds great, but I'm wondering what make of table leg is he playing? Looks like a Pakastani special. but then he's so freakin' talented it probably doesn't matter what he plays so long as it's a tube with holes in it.

If my guess isn't off, that's an older model flute made by Desi Seery, of Bray, Co. Wicklow. Lots of times I've been in Ireland and seen flute players using those older Seery wooden flutes with wide bands and integral footjoint. Very different appearance than his newer Delrin models.

Shame the video is not from the beginning, I was curious to see how she dealt with the C natural rolls on Spike Island Lasses.
