Tom smokes on this one, and we get a little Muireann on whistle too. :)

Bothy Band and close up of molloy's hands

Post by Liney Bear »

Very instructive, particularly when he gets into his solo of Sean Reid's Reel. Matt's way with the flute is sheer poetry. Pure class, all the way through, Begorrah.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjS2Extz ... rch=">Matt slays Sean Reid's reel</a>

Forward up to about 3 minutes 10 secs and just feast your eyes on that man's hands doing what they do best.

Simply put, if Matt Molloy and Donal Lunny were faced with the prospect of invading aliens from outer space, these boys would take the wind right out of their sails. The aliens would be no match for the furious bouziki/flute fusion and they would be annihilated by Donal and Matt's unmitigated AWESOME-ness.

My own personal feelings about Mr. Flatley aside, this duet with...Matt Molloy, yeah?*...is quite mesmerizing, IMHO.

I'd love to play with that sort of lift ~ must work on that.

It took me almost until the end of the 2nd one to figure out those dancers....

That makes a couple of us. It doesn't look like Eamon was too sure about them at first either.

Totally mesmerizing, agreed!!!! Note: Keyless flute!

It's nice to hear MF's short interview at the end, as well.

Totally off-topic, I somehow got linked to some of Ian Anderson's olde stuff, sigh......

Tell us something.: in two words, Rudall & Rose. but since a minimum of 100 characters is required, I should list a number of makers I found extremely interesting… I don't even know how much are 100 characters...

lovely. it's beautiful to hear two people who've been playing together for such a long time and who share so great an insight into the music.
