Tell us something.: You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy

Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee

Easy to play, flexible tone, excellent volume, very solid low end. Playing wise it's more Prattenish than Rudall like.

The feedback here has been all positive and seems to show Dave's work is very consistent.

To be fair and balanced, if I had to pick on something about Copley flutes, I'd say that the handmade silver rings on my Copley aren't as perfect as the rings on some other flutes I've played. This doesn't affect playability or durability one bit, it's purely cosmetic.

Bottom line: The Copley is a Great Flute, good price.

thanks loren

I have a girl freind who is looking to purchase one. She already knows about the infamous olwell but we are thinking that it would be great to have different flutes

I added a bit to my previous post.

In addition, after reading your addtional comments, I'd say this: The Copley is the easiest (non-Olwell) fluteto play well that I've tried so far - great for a relative beginner.

OTH, If you're getting an Olwell Pratten and you want something different, why not go for an R&R by one of the other makers, rather than something like the Copley that'll be very similar to the Olwell? Might make for a more interesting experience, no?

Just a thought.

Copley makes a wonderful flute...period. I purchased mine after owning two other flutes, and it was like night and day in terms of being easy to play. And he is great for customer service. I'm awaiting the day he gets restless and offers ones with keys!

I highly recommend Dave's flutes. I think they are superb, especially in intonation.
