Would anyone care to share some thoughts on tunes commonly encountered in sessions? I know there have been discussions here previously regarding tunes for the flute, but , as a new player, I am particularly interested in working on tunes that would be useful in a group setting. What are the first ten or fifteen tunes that everyone ought to have in their pockets? Thanks for your help.

I have several tunebooks I've compiled from our local sessions on my website:

Go to the Irish music page.

Hope you find it useful.

Buy every Kevin Burke solo album album available. Learn every tune on them. That'll give you a considerable leg up.

Fiddlers rule most sessions - get used to it and start learning lots of tunes in A.

Cheers,

Jamie.
