okay...i've made a couple posts. i got a Pakistani flute from ebay, but i think i lucked out.
i oiled it
i didn't have to touch the tone holes
it plays in tune both octaves (getting both octaves consistently now)
remaining problem:
this low D flute likes to play A more than D.
with much twisting and turning, i can evenutally "find" the low D, and play scales and tunes from there, but it is very difficult to find.
pick it up and blow and you get a crisp, clean A right off the bat.
i'm wondering this:
is this "all me" and my amateur posture, or is it to do with the emb. hole? if so, should the walls of the hole be straight down, angled towards you, or angled away from you?
Is the hole maybe too small? if i enlarge it, do i increase width, length, or both? if i increase length, how do i do it so i don't throw all the tone holes out of tune?
could it perhaps be the position of the tuning "cork" at the stopped end?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance,
A
