David:
Don't mind the world seeing this, but wanted you to know that I finally got a chance tonight to play one of your flutes. List member Terry Briley was in town for a visit and I kidnapped him over to a house session that we had. He brought his Copley flute and I gave it a whirl (long enough to put down a newly-acquired Rudall & Rose that I was test-driving before offering for sale). Marvelous work, David. You should be proud. Great reedy tone, stong response and great balance in the hands. Very nice indeed!

David, I had been trying to figure out a way to get one of our flutes to you for a test drive. Glad that Terry was able to save me the trouble - further confirmation that if one procrastinates long enough, a lot of problems solve themselves. The positive comments are really appreciated by me and Marlene (she does the siversmithing parts of the production as well as having to tolerate me as a marriage partner).

Thanks also to all of the other Chiff and Fipple contributors who have posted comments on our flutes and who have placed orders. There is no doubt that C&F has put us on the map and given us a flying start in the flute-making business.

Dave Copley

I want to second the positive
review of Dave Copley's flutes. I know very little about flutes, but it's obvious
I've managed to get my hands on
something special.

I don't want to add more praise for Dave Copley's flutes, since it seems like adding wood to a forest fire! I just got mine a week ago, and while we're still in the getting used to each other stage, I can already tell this one's a keeper. Which brings up a second point -
Some people on this board have a "Buy 'em all, try 'em all, sell the ones you don't like" approach to finding a new instrument. Not that there's anything wrong with that! But they have been gracious enough to post reviews of the istruments, as have many others. My approach has always been to do as much research as possible, and try to make one good choice. Ordering several flutes simply isn't practical or possible for me, so I relied heavily on the advice posted here. Thanks to all of you, I've got one terrific flute!

This lab rat is always glad to help  Good to hear you're happy with your new flute, Dan.

Seems like the praise for Dave and Marelene's flutes just keeps rolling in. I'm glad I got mine early!!

I've been to Dave's place and I wish to comment that he has a very nice flute building operation. He's a great craftsman, he builds a quality product that will last for years.
