Hello... I've finally been able to save up about $800 for a wooden flute. The only flute I've ever played is a bamboo Olwell for about 4-5 months now,so I'm very much a beginner. I'm looking for a flute that will make me sound like Kevin Crawford... but until then, what do you all suggest in this price range as far as tone, playability and not having to wait too long? I'm kinda leaning towards a Copely... Thanks - Tod

I'm with Jessie, Go for the Copley. No way you can go wrong man: Dave's flutes are easy for us beginners to play, they sound great, and the price is a bargain. Plus you don't have to wait a year to get one.
Hey Dave, how 'bout adding some sound samples to your website? I'd send Tod a sample, but I'm afraid my playing doesn't do your flutes the justice they deserve....

Loren, good point about adding sound samples. We are working on it (slowly) in between keeping up with the orders and some work on new designs. We want to have a good quality recording of some reasonably good players, and include our blackwood and rosewood flutes. I know one or two flute makers have sound samples which do not do their instruments justice, and that does not help them or their potential customers.
