Wassup with connecting to C&F

Post by Steve Bliven »

Over the past few days I've had a lot of difficulty connecting with any part of C&F. And when I can connect, I can't move to any other page in the forum. I keep getting the following error message:

"SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

MySQL server has gone away [2006]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.”

When I try to contact the Board Administrator, an email goes to dalewiely@gmail.com which bounces.

Problem doesn't seem to be at my end as other web sites/pages load properly. Something wrong at the Board end?

Best wishes.

Steve

Thanks very much to whomever managed to get the forum back up and running. Much appreciated.

Not to be too pushy, but perhaps a better contact for the Administrator might be in order.

Best wishes.

In fairness, 'dalewiely' was an obvious enough typo. It was corrected earlier this week, I think.

That said, the forum had been playing up with increasing numbers of server errors for at least a week or two, so there were signs things were possibly about to go awry.

Glad it's back up and running .

Glad to see the forum is back and running. I've been missing it! Thanks to the admin team for fixing the issue. Looking at the error message, it must not have been fun...

I was planning for my retirement. Hold the Margaritas...

Dale has the firsthand knowledge because he personally dealt with the matter, but suffice it to say that C&F has found our host wanting, and no question. An independent party fixed the issue at a ridiculously low cost. There will be a change of hosts at some not-too-distant point.

Anyway, can I get a Woo-hoo?

Another whoo-hoo from me. I missed c&f when it was down.

Whoo hoo and a huzzah as well! You don't realise how much you appreciate something until it's gone, so bloody well done to whoever fixed it.

I was surprised to realize how much time I devote to the Board. I didn't think it was all that much, but then while it was down I found myself with a good amount of unexpected free time on my hands.
