10th FluteFling : Edinburgh 19-21 April

Post by kenny »

Hard to believe that it is 10 years since we started this venture. Since then, we have branched out to include additional events in Aberdeen, extended our original scope to include whistles, and produced "The FluteFling Collection" tunebook - [ fewer than 20 left out of the initial run of 300 ].

We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming a special guest this year, flute player and uilleann piper CALUM STEWART , for a concert on Friday 19th April, and masterclasses on Saturday 20th.
A new venture for us will be the inclusion of step-dancer Sophie Stephenson, who will be part of the concert as well as conducting her own workshops, again, on the Saturday.
Tutors this year are Calum Stewart, Dougie Pincock [ ex- Battlefield Band", and recently-retired director of the "National School for Excellence in Traditional Music" ], founder member Sharon Creasey, [ acknowledged expert on the use of the Boehm-system flute for traditional music], and step-dancer Sophie Stephenson.
Scottish flute maker George Ormiston will also be in attendance.
Sessions will be held over all 3 days of the weekend.

At the moment of me typing this, there are only 10 places left for the classes, but we may be able to expand them slightly - to be discussed, and I will keep you informed.
