I am replacing an earlier post here, having sorted through the pics a bit more, slightly handicapped by my usual set up is in disarray after a lightning strike a few weeks ago. It's all a bit rough and ready, in need of s bit of straightning out. Working on it.

These are some of the players that appeared on the Willie week 2023 Flute recital lat Tuesday:

Always fun to see Billy Clifford in action, one of the more under-rated fluters IMO. Love listening to the recordings he's made (despite some very of-their-time recording/arranging choices).

But who's the fella playing with Molloy? Looks like some kind of James Bond-esque international man of mystery...

And kudos to the fashionistas who matched their attire to the mike covers...

And kudos also to the photographer.

Nice to see Marian Curtin in the mix. Her album, with fiddler Therese McInerney, "The Youth that Belonged to Miltown" has stayed in regular circulation since I got it.

Best wishes.

Steve

Tell us something.: I make ceramic instruments called Ocarinas for a living but am also very fond of playing whistle and accordion for Irish traditional music

It's Micheal Flatley, I reckon. Lord of the dance, river dance, etc.

No, that's Victor Blackley, a former spy who must have been hauled out of retirement for one last gig.

Tell us something.: I restore 19th century flutes, specializing in Rudall & Rose, and early American flutes. I occasionally make new flutes. Been at it for about 15 years.

Nice photos!
"I love the flute because it's the one instrument in the world where you can feel your own breath. I can feel my breath with my fingers. It's as if I'm speaking from my soul..."
