I wonder what percentage of members of this list have owned a Sweetheart flute? I started on one that Ralph had found in a drawer, made in 1993 and purchased by me in 2006 (if I remember correctly). I didn't know whether it was good as a starter—it didn't sound all that good. Then John Skelton offered to buy it from me and I realized the flute was pretty good, just that I sucked. I've had a couple of others over the years. Good, basic, in-tune, and solid players. That's how Ralph made them. And, as has been mentioned above, players here in the States owe him a debt for introducing many of us to this instrument.
