I just found a Davy Angus low D aluminium flute on Ebay, & bought it, (so it'll be on its way to me shortly), but I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of this maker, & particularly, this flute.

Nope. You'll have to be our reporter in the field. It looks like it breaks down into multiple parts, like Garry Somer's version, and unlike Hammy's practice flute. Garry's & Hammy's have Delrin heads.

Yes, it's an aluminium three piece, with neoprene(?) rings on the tenons, & looks to be tunable too.

Oh so you bought that! I was thinking about getting it but I guess you beat me to it! Let us know how it plays, and if both octaves are in tune

Sorry about that, , but I had been mulling it over for awhile.

I'll be sure to give you my opinion of it on here, but I'm still just a beginner, still developing my embouchure, so it'll just be my thoughts.

Ok, it arrived this morning, quite a light flute, 3 pieces of roughly equal length, sealed with neoprene rings, internal diameter about 21mm, straight tube, approximately 589mm long, slightly larger diameter piece of tube used as a lip plate, as is used on the joints.

Looks like it has been hand tuned, judging by the slightly out of round finger holes.

Appears to be easy on breath requirements for both low & high octaves, second octave fairly easily obtained.

To my ears, both octaves seem to be in tune OK.

Tone wise, it is quite similar to my delrin, maybe a little more edge to the notes, but certainly not shrill.

A nice addition to my growing collection.
