Very pretty flute...if I didn't have a flute being made right now I would be all over that.

It is a very attractive instrument I agree. It's not often you see a flute such as this one where the horn rings are so well preserved. It plays very well at A = 440 Hz with excellent intonation. I find that brass keys are pretty attractive with Boxwood instruments, and this one is fully chromatic :)

Any guess as to the age of the instrument? Tuning slide or tune on the tenon?

Hello Steve, Even though the flute is in remarkable condition, I would estimate its age to be around 140 years old, and probably made in the last quarter of the 19th. Century. This 4 key comes with a tuning slide.
