It is a very attractive instrument I agree. It's not often you see a flute such as this one where the horn rings are so well preserved. It plays very well at A = 440 Hz with excellent intonation. I find that brass keys are pretty attractive with Boxwood instruments, and this one is fully chromatic

Any guess as to the age of the instrument? Tuning slide or tune on the tenon?

Hello Steve, Even though the flute is in remarkable condition, I would estimate its age to be around 140 years old, and probably made in the last quarter of the 19th. Century. This 4 key comes with a tuning slide.
