And all of it is a reminder of how fragile our intangible cultural history is. Kenny may well have some of the best or only extant recoverable recordings of some tunes played by some of these players. That's sobering. We all need to examine our private recordings and wonder if we have a responsibility to have at least some of them returned to the public domain. Good man, Kenny!
Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but does ITMA have any protocol for accepting recordings like this submitted by collectors? If not, perhaps a site like that should be established...

Posted in memory of Darach de Brun, - composer of "The Man Of Aran" - who departed from us 7 years ago today.
Gary Shannon on flute, Carol Talty on piano - from 1983. [ "Mr. Gumby" will recognise where it came from. ]
Aw man, I saw the most uncanny thing a while ago. Although it seems like this should be more obvious now that the internet has been mainstream for two decades, it was really, really strange to see a comment from Darach on a YouTube video someone posted of themselves playing the Maple Leaf (one of my favorites, incidentally!)
Just a simple, "Lovely! Thanks for playing my tunes," but it was surprising!
