I'm all for maker's having time off, but this seems like a solvable problem. How about a business email address (and possibly phone no.) which you only check on your schedule? You could even have an automated response on weekends and when you're on vacation.
It seems to me unreasonable to expect someone to worry about what time they send an email. You can control whether you're notified and not know when they sent it. Why answer a phone in order to be nasty to someone? That's not my idea of humor.

I waited seven years for my six-keyed flute, and no, there wasn't a lot of communication coming my way until Aaron was ready to work on it. They sometimes responded to my annual reminder that I was still interested and waiting, and sometimes not.
That said, I do love the flute, and Aaron was quite helpful when it came down to working out what I really wanted, which was a rather gorgeous Nicholson model.

I'd second what Julia Delaney said, other than to say that 1995 is not ancient for a Volvo 
When I got on the waiting list for a keyed flute in 2006, Patrick emailed (possibly with tongue in cheek) to say "just drop me an email once a year to let me know you're still alive", so I emailed him once a year at Christmas and always got at least a festive reply. After 6 years Aaron contacted me to say they were starting on my flute and what exactly did I want. By the end of 2012 I had a 6 keyed flute (for a very reasonable price) which is the epitome of craftsmanship, workmanship, call it what you will. It's flawless and is, in all honesty, a much better flute than I am a player.
To the OP, sit tight. However long you have to wait will be worth it.
