FS: Grinter 8 Key Cocus Wood Flute

Post by Loren »

Grinter Flute 8 sterling silver keys, sterling silver lined headjoint and tuning slide. made from some really gorgeous Cocus wood. Flute is in as near to new condition as one could hope for, rarely ever played due to my wood allergies. Always kept properly humidified. Includes original case, of course.

I’ve been on this forum since the beginning and those who know me here know that I am not one for hyperbole. That said, IMO this is a rather special flute, in every way - looks, responsiveness, tone, workmanship - The whole package. A rare find.

$9000. Delivered to U.S. destinations only. I will take and send pictures to seriously interested individuals. Contact me via pm.

You don't have to limit yourself to CONUS shipping unless you want to. Cocus is not a protected wood under Cites II but I could understand you might have other reasons to limit shipping to within the States, but just in case that was the issue I thought I'd chime in.

Thanks, however I am aware of the status of Cocus. Just not worth the risk and trouble of shipping internationally.

Curious (and Loren would probably know)--is cocus lighter, less dense than, blackwood?

If anyone in Europe feels left out and has a spare $9,000 knocking about then I’d consider selling mine too! :boggle:

Hi Loren,
Just to say, a couple of months ago I got a 8 1/2 key (double touch Bb) cocus from grinter and it's a super fine flute. I have an 8 key blackwood that I'll put for sale in the future (another fantastic flute!) and the cocus is a tad lighter than the blackwood. Good luck with your sale! And I'm sure many would be delighted if you posted some pics just to look a it ;)
