Oyez, oyez, oyez................. we are pleased to announce the 5th Edinburgh "FluteFling", to take place in Edinburgh, over the weekend of 20th - 22nd April 2018.
Details are almost finalised, but the big change this year is that we are expanding the event to include whistles, of the "low" and "high" variety.
Information available at this stage can be found here : http://www.flutefling.co.uk/scottish-fl ... kend-2018/
If anyone has any queries, please contact me here either through this thread or by private message, and I'll do my best to answer them.
Hope to see some of you in April. A' the best, Kenny

Look forward to meeting up again, Martin.
Latest news is that we have a guest musician / speaker in the hugely talented Claire Mann. We’ll ask Claire to play some of her music on both flute and whistle, and also partake of a "Question and Answer" session on her musical history and approach and ideas about traditional music.

Re: 5th "FluteFling" : Edinburgh 20-22 April...plus whistles
I've often thought about making the effort and getting to this event but something has always gotten in the way of heading south from Inverness - until now. I'm glad to say I've booked and am looking forward to meeting and playing with my fellow Scottish flutesters in April.
I suspect I may have met some of you at the flute and fiddle gathering at Wiston a few years ago. In fact, I think Flutesoftheforest and myself ended up sharing accommodation in a very(!) small cabin there ... hi Martin!
The line up and content of the weekend sound great - and, while I've obviously heard of the legendary Sandy Bell's, I've never had the chance to play there - so that's something I'm looking forward to as well.
Cheers for now
Chris

Only a few places left, folks. We have over 30 students signed up at the moment. If you've been thinking about being part of this, please do sign up in advance to avoid disappointment. We will try to accommodate everybody, but at the same time, we can't allow the classes to get to an unmanageable size.
Look forward to meeting up with some of you next weekend.
A' the best, Kenny

A few last minute changes have been forced upon us. People who have signed up should by now have received an email from Gordon about the change of venues for the evening sessions. "Jeannie Deans" cancelled our 3-month standing booking at 3 days notice, so we're not feeling too well disposed towards them at the moment, and will be taking our business elsewhere on both nights.

Re: 5th "FluteFling" : Edinburgh 20-22 April...plus whistles
Just a quick line to thank all those wonderful people who made the fifth Scottish FlueFling such a wonderful success.
I never cease to be amazed by the warm and welcoming reception given to and by the flute players of Scotland and further afield.
I have always said that it isn't just the music that makes these events successful but the people who take part, and this event has them in droves. So thanks to Gordon, Kenny, Niall, Sharon, Claire and of course Cathal, and all the others, for what was yet another memorable weekend.
