Hammy Flute for sale.

Post by Jim Troy »

Selling my Hamilton blackwood flute.
Eight keyed, post mounted.
(3290 euro for six keyed, present price)

It's in Hammy's workshop, for repad/respring.

Original cost, maybe 3 grand, (Euro)
I'll sell it for less than 3,

I'm in Irish Midlands, Athlone/Ballinasloe area.
The flute is in Coolea.

Make me an offer ?

I was asked about the age of this flute, and if the C foot weakens the bottom D

The flute is about 8 years of age, the bottom D honks like an effen mad thing.

But that may be just my savage playing. I'm known as The Honker Troy.

I did have an innovative extra put onto this flute, an extension at the cap end, because I play ON the shoulder, not into it.
It keeps the head up and frees the airway, and all of that, like.

Sounds interesting. How obtrusive is that if you don't want to use it? Is it a permanent alteration to the end cap?

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Hope you don't mind me adding, Jimmy, but for others' benefit, I've seen and heard that flute at close hand. It's a stonker! I've also seen the head extension. It certainly wouldn't bother me.

The bottom D booms out of that thing. I'm surprised you're selling it, Jimmy.

As Ben said, it's strong.
The extension is for my benefit as I never learned to play/hold the instrment "properly"
You'll see the great and the good leaning the flute into the shoulder, I assume when, 2 hours into the session, the arms/head get tired.
I believe, from my younger days, on clarinet, the head should be up, and the airway free, so I got Hammy to lenghten the cap.
If you want to see how this works, rest the flute ON the shoulder, imagine the tone hole is further along, maybe first finger.

This leads to a very lazy way of going on, so, if you do not do this, then do not do this.
Keep your head up, sit up straight, take a deep breath, and one..two.. three..

(I'll try to get a pic up here, give's a min)
