Hello and still here :-)

Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone after having vanished for a bit. Still here, still fluting away although I've been seduced by 12th century liturgical music lately (Hildegard natch), including learning to read the very old musical notation. The stuff's mostly modal and hence well-suited to a keyless flute, but I am still head over ears in love with my Copley Delrin 6-key, and the keys come in handy when I play opera tunes.

I'm currently wondering if I don't want to get a Copley keyless in F so that I can play the plainchant in the more commonly sung keys, but while I can play my current piece in B quite easily, bumping it up to D makes my face hurt, so I think my embouchure isn't ready to go that high up just yet. (I'm also thinking about a 5-key left-handed piccolo, lord help me. Someone talk me out of it. I mean, if my face hurts moving things up a minor third, I'd be in outright pain on a piccolo!)

Haven't gotten a C foot yet, though -- I was able to get an inexpensive (well, relatively) used 40-string pedal harp, which sucked up more money than made me happy, so the C foot will have to wait, unfortunately. I definitely want to get one someday, though. I'd love to work directly from the old Nicholson method book.

Anyway, still playing, still learning, and happy to be here. Hope everyone's been doing well and having a nice summer/winter/whatever it is in your part of the world.
