Thanks to Mat Stephens for pointing this out to me. Super compilation album of Breton flute players on free stream! Includes two tracks from "God" (Jean-Michel Veillon). Well worth a listen, and the very informative album notes booklet (linked PDF download on page linked below) is also well worth a read (in French only).

Thanks for this!

A question about the PDF notes. The flutes being played are identified in the solfege system which I'm not that familiar with, beyond the Julie Andrews movie level. I assume a flute listed as "Ré" is a D flute (Do, Re starting from the note C). What about these others:

"Fa" -- F, I suppose.
"Mi b" -- Eb
"Si" -- Not "So," but maybe a G flute anyway?
"Si b" -- F# maybe?

Is that right, or did I mess it up?

Not far adrift. "Si" is B, "si bémol" is Bb.
Do, ré, mi, fa, sol, la, si, do.

Shouldn't sol and fa be reversed here?

Best wishes.

Thanks! Knowing the flute keys will help avoid initial befuddlement if I learn some of these tunes. Some beautiful music here.

This causes some confusion in bilingual French-English sessions (e.g., most sessions in Montréal), where a person asks the key of a tune and someone replies "C" but that sounds like "si" in French so the French speakers think it's in the key of B.

Similarly, my girlfriend, who is from Brittany, once asked me what "sleep jigs" are; she thought they must be jigs played to small children before they go to bed, but she was just hearing French speakers say "slip jig" with a French accent. ;-)

Thanks for sharing!
Cool to hear some of the Breton flutemakers (Lehart, Morvan) play tunes!
