Orcon Flute

Post by Steve Bliven »

Recently a kind person sent me a recording by Paddy Breen (The Rambling Irishman, Country Music of West Clare, Folktrax, FX-078) playing an "Orcon Flute". Can't find much about this instrument via Google. Anyone here have any info? Is it a flute, a whistle, a hybrid, or something from Startrek?

Thanks and best wishes.

Steve

You will want the whistle forum for this one. It has been discussed and easier found when looking for the (Chromette) Orkon flageolet. Image

Thanks kkrell. Once I got the spelling sorted—and the link to Chromette—found much more info on the internet. Intriguing little rascals, them Orkons.

Best wishes.

Orkons. Didn't William Shatner have a lot
of trouble with them in one episode?

There was one for sale here at the Exchange forum not long ago. If I was filthy rich, I would have bought it, just for the fun of it (it seemed very interesting judging by the pics the seller sent me). Alas, the price was too steep for me.
