any reputable simple system keyed piccolo sellers?
Howdy, I'm interested in getting a keyed simple system piccolo, preferably in ebonite or other non-wood material, but haven't found any reputable sellers and am wondering if you guys had any recommendations? I've found listings of older keyed piccolos on ebay, but don't know enough to be able to tell the difference between a good instrument or bad one just by pictures or descriptions. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

I bought a simple piccalo from Jem Hammond (on this forum). I am very pleased with it.

Lorenzo and accordionstu were both selling nice keyed piccolos as of late not sure if they sold.
The only living maker making a keyed piccolo that uses delrin on a regular basis is Hammy Hamilton.
Though it would be worth asking Walt Sweet as well though I've not seen him offer a keyed one.
Tom Aebi and Peter Worrell offer keyed wooden ones.
your best bet is eBay though.

Just thinking my comment about Hammy using delrin on a "regular basis" should actually say 'has used " rather than on a regular basis. I'm pretty sure he has made keyed piccolos and has used Delrin or some type of polymer for flutes.
I play Rudall Carte and Sam Murray piccolos but have played many and some of the better ones I got off of eBay very cheaply. I always pass them on for not much more than I paid for them.
Usually a thread like this will have prices up for a week or two and then back down as really unless it's something special piccolos gather little interest.

- Tell us something.: I got interested in flutes because I already play piano and harp and am interested in instruments that aren't also furniture, and that you can get onto an airplane without getting into a fight with the gate agent.

Terry McGee's page says that he makes keyed piccolos:

and he states elsewhere on his site that while he mostly works in wood, he's not opposed to doing work in polymer as well:

"Incidentally, I have no problem with polymers being used for flutes - I do it myself if asked."

Peter Worrell makes a nice piccolo but not in plastic. I have one of his 6 key D pics based on a Basel Piccolo with some customisations. If you would consider an Aluminium keyless, let me know. I am making two piece keyless in D for £80 plus postage.

I have a Jem Hammond piccolo I could probably be talked into selling. Might as well go to someone that'll play it; I never could build up an embouchure good enough to do it justice. I can't remember what I paid, so I'd need to figure out a fair selling price if you're interested.
Edit to add: it's not keyed or tunable, but I found the tuning to be spot on. I believe it's made from black PVC. I don't think it cost me more than $50 or so after shipping and exchange rate. I don't think he is currently making them.
