I just bought a Forbes Delrin flute and I have to say I am very pleased with it.
Very well in tune, nice and lively tone, very sensitive to nuances in embochure and blowing, and easy to get a good sound out of.
Of the non-wooden flutes I have (the others being Dixon 3-piece, M&E Ebonite, Tipple) this is definitely my favourite. The kind of flute you don't want to put down.
So, if you play/practise a lot and fear you may cause your wooden flute to develop cracks, or you want a good flute for travelling or a great first flute, you may want to consider Forbes.
