Reel on the Bamboo Pratten by Eimear McGeown

Post by barna »

Pratten flute can be made of blackwood, ebony, kingwood, boxwood or any other exotic wood, but this time I would like to show how BAMBOO can give a beautiful strong voice for the Irish Wooden Flute in the hand of an expert player.

If you listen that closing your eyes you wouldn´t imagine that it´s a bamboo flute.
Impresive.

Tell us something.: I'm interested in 19th and early 20th century wooden flutes. And Renaissance flutes. And also techniques for whistles.

Beautiful :)
'...I want to warn you that playing the flute is impossible for those who have no tongue, for all notes must be led by the tongue; therefore, those of you who take pleasure in playing the flute should guard your tongue against mould, which is to say, drink often.'
- Philibert Jambe der Fer (1556)
