I don't know about Vancouver, but Portland is right across the river. There are sure to be lots of sessions there.

If you are driving, you are just across the Columbia from Portland. For public transportation, the Vancouver to Portland leg is served by three different means. Amtrak passes through providing rail, four times daily. Both C-Trans and TriMet provide bus service. When I visited relatives in Portland two weeks ago I found TriMet and MAX (the light rail) made the central portion of Portland extremely well served. Portland is a fun town.
