FS: Northumbrian smallpipe (NSP) 3-key chanter Heriot Allan

Post by MatthewVanitas »

This item is a 3-key Northumbrian smallpipe chanter by Robbie Greensitt under the "Heriot & Allan" label. It includes a stock (split-stock?) and original reed marked "HA" and " '91". I do not know for sure, but believe it's in traditional F+ NSP pitch; please refer to pic with ruler for measurements.

The chanter has, unusually, three keys. The keys appear to be in good operating shape, though tarnished and presumably some wear on the pads. The dark wood sole is firmly hemped, though the brass circlet up by the stock slides freely when disassembled.

I bought this from a guy in the UK with the intent of having a friend make three plain drones for it and turning it into a full primitive set, but I'm distracted enough trying to learn Swedish bagpipes, so passing this on to someone who can make more use to it. I haven't done anything with it, but I took it to the Piper's Gathering in 2011 and several professional recording NSP players messed with it and pronounced it a nice piece of gear, albeit with an unusual keying format.

Asking $395 or best offer, and reasonable guess at shipping costs/insurance to the buyer's location from me (Washington DC). Feel free to write with any other questions, and detailed pics follow below:
