From the Bagpipe Society, go on, you know you want to....
Dear Friends,
This is a reminder that March 10th 2013 is International Bagpipe Day and once again the Bagpipe Society are encouraging pipers around the world to lay on grassroots events that will celebrate our wonderful instrument.
Last year, as well as our International Bagpipe Conference at SOAS in London, people organised picnics, dances, school visits and public talks, as far afield as Seattle and Athens!
This year we have a flagship event at the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford (on Saturday March 9th) but we're also planning the Great Bagpipe Convergence. We want everyone to go out on March 10th at noon local time, play your pipes, and post a photo or video on our facebook page:
www.facebook.com/internationaldayofthebagpipe
Be sure to tag your location!
So wherever you are and whatever you do to celebrate the day, be it picnic or dance or gig or talk, let's join together as one global community of pipers!
And finally, we're asking you to BCC this email to every piper you know so that this year the word can get round everyone.
With warms regards,
Andy Letcher Publicity Officer for the Bagpipe Society
