Markus Gäbel's NSP chanter-making videos

Post by Peter Duggan »

Something I stumbled upon the other night (through Googling 'wals voor polle') and sat watching till I'd seen the lot!

Making a NSP Chanter : Part 1 - Turning the Chanter (Duration 26:13)
Making a NSP Chanter : Part 2 - Key Making (Duration 27:19)
Making a NSP Chanter - Part 3 : Chanter Stock, Chanter End, Assembling (Duration 26:37)

(Think there was meant to be a Part 4 as well but it's apparently either not yet made or not there, although he does also have the excellent bellows-making videos previously highlighted by viewtopic.php?f=6&t=83419.)

Anyway, it's fascinating, engrossing stuff and a prime illustration of the skills and painstaking man-hours necessary to produce any similar handmade instrument (and people wonder why keys etc. cost money?).

:)
And we in dreams behold the Hebrides.

Master of nine?
