FS: Ray Sloan Northumbrian smallpipes set in D - perfect!

Post by tommyk »

T'is now on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1

I have a Sloan D set which I like a lot and which was meant to be my interim set while awaiting another to be made.
Part of me thought it’d be a good idea to gain the practice on that instrument in preparation for continuing playing on the other.

I’ve tried several different sets and chanters now and have the distinct feeling that spending time on one chanter doesn’t necessarily prepare one well for another. I assume this to be part of the unique nature of hand-made reed instruments (having experienced something similar with uilleann pipes).

I’m rethinking my plan and might like to free up some cash for musical project in front of me.
Then I’d just take up the pipes again when the “keeper” set (yeah, I know, chortle awa’) arrives.

Sloan D, 4 drones, each with bead and slide;
11-keys / lined key slots (plated – chrome or nickel);
Black buffalo mounts (fully mounted – quite pretty);
Burgundy velvet bag cover;
Sloan bellows.

Condition: Excellent to near perfect; in super playing condition (just refettled this evening and it's playing dead on A=440 pitch).
Original price: $5,632.00.

As some of you may know, Ray Sloan is no longer making any sets of Northumbrian smallpipes.

Please email if interested.

Photos here if not now, then by next week:
go to www.tommyswirled.com
scroll all the way to the bottom of the right-hand frame (i.e., the main portion of the page);
click on Instruments for Sale

The set is currently on eBay.

(and I fully realize that it may well take a while to find a buyer)

tommyk's listing on eBay wrote: I have ordered a set with two different chanters and more keys for what I wish to play.
Who did you order your new set from?
Cheers,
Mark

Okay, I HATE PayPal!

eBay (which owns PayPal) ended this auction because they say it violated their "Circumvention of eBay fees" policy.

Apparently, I'm not allowed to say:
"If you wish to pay by PayPal, you will be responsible for the fee (2.9 percent)"

Incredible!
Not only is the listing ended, they've entirely removed it so that I will have to write it all over again.

If anyone is interested, please contact me; I'll probably get around to relisting next week.
