Highland pipers are going to love that! Now they'll carry the stigma of being "non-uilleann." If Dale was scared of pipes before, now he should be petrified now. :D

Tell us something.: Very much enjoy all flutes, bagpipes and whistles. I'm an older player; however, an active learner. I take current lessons from an Irish Flute tutor, a Boehm Flute tutor and a Highland Bagpipe tutor. I'm a great believer in lessons and without the assistance of a tutor, I find that I would be repeating the same mistakes over and over again, making me proficient in poor music.

I think this is great!!! I play GHB, Scottish Small Pipes as well as learning to play the Union Pipes (Uilleann Pipes). The idea of a "non Uilleann" site is cool from the standpoint that it is another opporunity for pipers to get to know one another and share information. Way to go Dale/ Joseph!!!

Thanks, JES and Dale. Now we have to miss the entertainment value of hot tempers and locked threads. It'll never be the same.

I think tempers will be as hot as ever, and when a thread is locked, well, it's locked, whatever the forum. There will be plenty of those.

By the way, GHB ,SSP, NSP were all mentioned. How about kozy, duda, gudatsviri, parakapzuk, shabur, etc? Honestly, I didn't make up any of the above, they all do exist.

Just wait 'till someone starts talking about bagwhistles. Then there'll be trouble!

Ok, I'm kind of freaked out now...the sign that Dale photo-shopped to announce this forum is right down the street from my house...

Maybe, but at least people (not talking about our moderator) won't be complaining about other pipes being discussed. That was getting very tiresome. Thanks, Dale and JES.

Oh, now I suppose if Uilleann pipes are mentioned in this forum the same thing will happen  . Dang!

Wow... so this really happened. Great!

I've been lurking on the UP forum for a few months - as I've started playing Scottish Smallpipes. So, it's really nice to have a more general forum.

Thanks for that, guys.
