Greetings, I am sitting on a pristine condition set of NSP by Colin Ross. Paid over $6,000. Obviously, the value has increased. Four Drones, the low two have two tuning beads each. C-D-E F-G-A c-d f-g Two 14-key chanters: D and F. All in ABW and silver plate. Mounts, tuning beads, and chanter feet in Black horn. The small f drone reed snapped off recently; HOWEVER, included would be a full set of chanter and drone reeds made by Colin. Extras include cleaning/oiling rods, extra pads, and tasteful silver/black ribbon decorating the black velvet bag. I really am not sure that I shouldn't just keep sitting on it, but it is not getting played. Reeds kept, as per Colin's suggestion, with my ABW whistles and flute in my humidor. Smoke-free. Kept in its case by a temperature/environment-sensitive curator - me. Of course more detail and, especially photos, would follow. I'm not a player though. The set functions fine, but you don't want to hear my attempts! Lol. Please reach out if you have serious interest: tommyvikingen@gmail.com |

I see the set is now on Ebay. It's beautiful. Around 30 years ago I had a brief NSP period. I wrote Colin asking about D sets (no internet) and he said he happened to have a very nice, and unusual, set that had come in for refurbishing that was for sale. I bought it. It was a D set in boxwood with silver-plate and imitation ivory mounts, 9 key chanter. It was an amazing thing, gorgeous and fantastic-sounding, but I never made much headway playing it and I sold it after a few years. Your set there is as good as NSPs get. A piper would be set up for life. A bonus is having no ivory, for travel. I hope it finds a worthy home! |

Thanks. The set is just the best. If I wanted to dedicate time to becoming a real NSPer, no WAY I'd be selling this. My heart lies where it does, so I must sell. |
