Found this album on Spotify: Les cornemuses d'Europe en Cornouaille. You can see the track list here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/store/m ... 6kgwzzx6f5.

For those, like me, who know little about the diversity of traditional pipes, it's a great introduction. I was quite taken by the gaita asturiana, for one.

Yes it's a great CD set, I bought it many years ago.

I used to play Gaita Gallega, have countless hours of great Spanish piping on tape, and have attended a concert of one the top Asturias pipers, so that music was familiar to me.

I think my favourite thing on the whole set is one of the Greek pieces.

One of the best things for me, oddly, was the Paddy Keenan "party piece" because it added to my little collection; I have five different recordings of Paddy playing that at various live venues, and listening to them all give a great insight into what Paddy's approach to playing variations is, and isn't.

To show off Northumbrian pipes to people who haven't heard them before, I would have chosen differently. I YouTubed and Googled Tanguy Allain and couldn't find anything other than the tracks on this album. I would have chosen Katherine Tickell, probably. (They used "star" player for Scottish and Uilleann pipes.)
