Jim McGillivray DVDs.

Post by ChrisCracknell »

I've just received and watched the two DVDs "Pipes Ready" on GHB maintenance and "Pipes Up" on tuning. And I just wanted to recommend them both. Nice clear explanation. Video quality is VHS moved to DVD. Sound quality is not brilliant on the Pipes Ready but is a lot better on the pipes up tuning DVD (as it would have to be!).

My personal change to the pipes so far as a result of watching Pipes Ready was to rehemp the tuning slides and drone bases so that the tuning slides move more freely and the drone bases fit much more firmly in the stocks.

I am also going to give my chanter reed a lot more attention soon...

'bye,

Chris.

Rhythmic Fingerwork DVD - any good?

Post by ChrisCracknell »

Is Mr McGillivray's Rhythmic Fingerwork DVD and book (I believe they are a set) any good? Mainly for woodshedding...

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Chris.

Mr. MacGillivary is a knowledgeable and kind man and an exemplary musician. You would not go amiss taking any of his advice. His RF is a must for any piper.
