"Button Box And Moothies", Aberdeen 2015

We have some evidence, however, that you may have to pay for the reeds.

"Button Box And Moothies", Aberdeen 2015

Post by kenny »

The Elphinstone Institute of Aberdeen University organised 2 "Button Box And Moothies" conventions in 2007 and 2011 and is hoping to repeat those 2 very successful events towards the end of this year. The convention promotes mainly traditional music played on button-accordions / melodeons, concertinas [ Anglo and English ] and mouth-organ / harmonica. Over a weekend, you will be able to hear some of the best exponents of these various instruments, learn from them in workshops, hear them talk about their music, and play along with them in informal sessions.
I have been invited to participate in the setting up of this festival, which is very much at the initial planning stages. We have had some discussion about who to invite as guests to this weekend of music, but I thought I'd try a wee bit of audience research first - so :
which musicians could we book so that YOU would consider travelling to Aberdeen to hear ?

Past festivals have managed to bring musicians from all over the UK and Ireland - musicians from Europe might be possible, but because of likely budget considerations, it's unlikely we would be able to bring anyone in from further than that. Please bear that in mind before making any suggestions.
All suggestions will be considered - but there are no guarantees. Many thanks in advance for any replies. Kenny
