Can anyone tell me anything about this accordion?

We have some evidence, however, that you may have to pay for the reeds.

Can anyone tell me anything about this accordion?

Post by squeezeboxbrian »

During a recent trip to St Petersburg, Russia I happened upon this lovely little squeezebox. It was at a market stall full of old WWII merchandise (gas masks, uniforms, badges, military equipment e.t.c) and this squeezebox was hidden away in the corner. I bought it as I have always wanted to play the accordion and though why not. That was a few months ago, and since then i have been scouring the internet desperately trying to identify my purchase and any information on it at all. Unfortunately I have no idea where to look and have been truly unsuccessful. This is not helped by the fact that I live in Manchester, UK, and as far as I'm aware there aren't many accordion specialists around here.

It is not in great condition and certainly appears to be very old, it was held together with small nails mostly and it seems to have undergone repairs on multiple occasions. When i bought it three of the buttons didn't work, since then i have managed to fix two of them. Any suggestions at all as to what it actually is, who made it, when it was made e.t.c would be very welcome indeed!

Here's some pics:

I don't know much. But this website http://www.accordionlinks.com/manufacturer.html lists lots and lots of brands. I couldn't see anything resembling the little logo on yours though.

It's almost certainly a very simple Garmon which can be either Uni- or bisonoric (ie one note or two notes per button). It's a native Russian squeezebox.

I bet this guy would know.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')
